Game #48 - vs Washington Capitals

Washington Capitals (21-21-5, 47 pts) at Pittsburgh Penguins (27-17-3, 57 pts)

Semin hasn't lived up to expectations so far this season.

Whitney's point production is down from last year.

The Caps are hot. They have a three game winning streak and have won seven of their past 9 games. Even with the win streak, they're still allowing goals. They've had to score four or more to win all but one of their games. They've allowed two or fewer in just three of the nine games.

The Pens are running a medical ward. Take a look at the list of injured players:
  • Sidney Crosby
  • Gary Roberts
  • Marc-Andre Fleury
  • Colby Armstrong
  • Adam Hall
  • Tyler Kennedy
Obviously missing Sid is hard enough, but much of their grit and depth is sitting on the bench. There were three new guys called up (Filewich, Brent and Minard) to help if Army, Hall or Kennedy should miss any significant time.

This is another trap game, like last Friday against the Lightning. The Pens need to get off fast and control the play. If they get behind, I'm not sure they have the firepower and depth to come back.

Let's Go Pens!
