Bruins 3, Penguins 1

The game was not as close as the score would indicate. The Pens were outshot 28-10 over the first two periods, and just in case you thought that the lack of offense might make them play with more urgency, they only registered 7 shots in the third, with four or five of them coming in the last few minutes of the game. In fairness, they did have an accuracy issue last night, with some of their shots not finding the net. But, on radio Steigerwald was saying that Thomas almost looked like he was playing in a pee-wee game in that most of the "shots" were just trickling towards him.

I'm not sure what it's going to take to fix the Pens offense to generate consistent scoring. I keep thinking of the line in Hoosiers, where Gene Hackman describes his approach with his team - "I'm going to break 'em down and build them back up". I'm hoping that is what is happening here. In fact, if anyone hears Therrien yelling "FOUR PASSES!", please let me know. :)

Two more games before the break - Carolina and Washington - back to back on Friday and Saturday.

Last night was a lame game to watch. Like you mentioned Pat, they just had no offense. Even on the power play, they would hold the puck ok in the off. zone but no shots would come from it. Just a few passes, turnover, clear. And that's if we were lucky because the books out on the Pens defensive abilities on the PP, so evey team is pressuring them and if given even the smallest amount of space will try to break it out for a shortie. The worst part is they SHOULD because the pens are just bad like that. On a positive note I really like the way Boguniecki is playing. He hustles and shoots. He had some shots that were way off but I like the way he plays. It was also nice to see Roy out there causing trouble. He must be a tough dude cause he does not get many takers when he's looking to throw them thangs...

I agree completely about Bogi & Roy. They both had a good game, & made some good plays. One play I saw that I really liked was, Roy flipped the puck up & over the net to get it out in front. Now, if everyone could just have a good game all at the same time, that would be great.
