A slow start plagued the Pens tonight, along with some poor early goaltending by Marc-Andre Fleury. The Canes took advantage and jumped to a 3-0 lead. The Pens stormed back and made it 3-2 when Tim Gleason deflected an attempt into a wide open net by Bill Guerin. The Pens had a few more chances, but none as good as that one.
Who scored?
Crosby (20), Rupp (9)
Any surprises?
Legace, despite the two Pens' goals, played better than I thought he would.
Any change in the standings?
Yep - Washington won and so did Jersey.
Division: 1st (tied with New Jersey)
Conference: 2nd (3 points behind Washington)
League: 3rd (2 points behind San Jose)
Notes:
Who's next?
It's off to Montreal on Thursday night.
It's off to Montreal on Thursday night.
Notes:
- HCDB played Godard tonight despite the excellent performance by Letestu on Saturday. Godard only played 2:28 - I think I would rather have seen Letestu
- Only two shifts for Talbot in the third. Was he a victim of shortening the bench?
- It looked like Guerin knew he was in trouble in the fight, so he took Gleason to the ice. It looked good.
