He also has a no-trade clause.
It is a shame to see Sarge leave, but I think it was smart of Ray Shero not to offer the third year and also not to go above Gonchar's previous salary. It takes guts not to cave in and overpay a player of the caliber of Gonch.
I'll certainly miss watching him play.
Hopefully he'll get a nice ovation when he returns to Pittsburgh. He deserves it.
