Penguins draft F Andy Bathgate

Another draftee with good bloodlines, Andy is the grandson of NHL great Andy Bathgate.

Andy played last season with Belleville in the OHL. He, by most accounts, was physically dominated by the older players in the OHL. He seems to have come on strong late in the season and could fill in to his frame as he gets older. He'll be a project that could have good upside if he can develop the physical aspects of his game, because he seems to have the offensive skills.

This kid has great hockey sense and is a play making center with great speed. He was rookie of the year at the Tier II level before committing to Belleville after Christmas in his OHL draft year. He played with Peter Holland and Tyler Randell at the Midget AAA level and the line was the best line in the country at that age group. With all the veteran players gone from the Bulls from last year and the coaches desire to play only his veterans should be huge for Andy. The coach has finally committed to his young players and with more ice time people will see his true talent for the game. Pens fans, this kid is good and has the ability to be great!! You will not be disappointed.
